Quick Update

We've been pretty busy between

here

and

the new place.

haven't had much time to breathe

but

it's all good.

This is the temp-wall Jamie built for the 

bedroom TV.

it's placed at the foot of the bed.

more pics @ a later date.

i purchased the rugs below on the weekend for the bath.
i tossed them on top of this 
old wooden crate
that sits atop of an old singer sewing machine table.

miss mika spots it!

i've had this crate for a very long time

but never really new what to do with it.

well, now i know!
(another project added to my list)

we think she may have spent 

a lot of her time in the trees

when young

while she was alone

in the outdoors

b4 we adopted her.

she loves the 
"tree-house"
feel.

she actually goes out on the deck

here when one of us is with her.

she never went out on the deck at our old place;

it was ground level.

this one is on the 3rd floor
.

We love the tree-house feel as well.

More 
another day.

A few photos of our new place

Final move-in day is next Saturday.

Although, rent is paid here

until 

months end

so

we can come back to clean

without feeling rushed.

The new place is clean

but

i went there yesterday

to give the kitchen a 

"good cleaning"

so

it's set for food to be brought in.

Tomorrow

Jamie is building a thin

pop-out wall

in the bedroom

@

the foot of the bed

to hang 

the flat-screen TV on

so 

we don't have to damage the walls.

The living-room corner 

will get something similar 

once we get settled.

Kitchen Before Cleaning

The ugly lamp in the top right dining area

is going...

we're replacing it with something else.

room on the far right in photo below 

will be split.

one side will be my jewelry bench

&

the other will be for the

home gym.

I just ordered a heavy duty

sea grass rug 

for this room

to cover the carpet

so the rug is protected.

2 sliding doors come out of the
wall to close the room off
from the living-room.

Back deck is fairly small

but not 2 tight.

plenty big for a couple lounge chairs.

bedroom has a good size walk-in closet

where almost everything we've brought

so far

is stored atm.

Jamies closet is in the

work-out room.

I like the crisp white walls.

will be nice having a blank slate

to work with this time around.

It's quite a bit smaller than
we're used to
but it has a
real
good
energy.
unlike the place we've been 
stuck 
in the last 4 years.

I'll post photos as we get things done.

Raw Carrot Cake Recipe

CAKE

1 c almonds (soaked)

¾ c dates (soaked)

1 c carrot pulp

¾ c carrot juice

1 grated carrot

1 TB ginger

1 TB orange zest

1 TB lemon zest

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp nutmeg

½ c raisins

½ c walnuts or dry shredded coconut

1 tsp lemon juice

Juice the carrots and extract pulp. In a food processor, finely grind almonds and then add dates and process until a ball forms. Put the almond and date mixture into a bowl and add carrot juice, carrot pulp, grated carrot, spices, zests, and lemon juice. Mix thoroughly. Add the raisins and walnuts or coconut. Form cake into desired shape.

ICING

¾ c cashews (soaked)

2 dates (soaked)

1 orange (juiced)

1 tsp orange zest

1-2 TB lemon juice

¼ vanilla bean or ½ tsp extract



Place all icing ingredients into a food processor and process until smooth. Ice cake and decorate with shredded coconut and/or fresh fruit. 

I won't be making this until after we move in 2 weeks
